My New shelf.....Booth makeover....makes me Happy, Happy, Happy

I am finally, happy with my booth, with the exception of not being able to keep it stocked as well as I would like.   That is my fault.    It's a matter of "Just Do It" and organization.   I fill like the lord blessed me with this new shelf.   I stayed up at night thinking of how I was going to add some height to my booth and stop wasting space.   I dreamed of shelves with character, that would help me create some dept to my display areas.   The next week, there it was, AKA roadside  procurement.    Someone through it on the side of the road. This was a homemade shelf, with flaws but the flaws gave it character.      It just needed a makeover.     It was a wonderful dark wood, I only wanted that to barely show through.  I painted the whole thing a cream color then lightly brushed a dirty look over the cream.   Next step was to do the out side.   I then dry brushed a mix of colors I favor on the outside.   The next step is to decoupage the back with sheets of an old book.    I used pages from a book called the "HillBilly Doctor" .
Next I decoupaged some of the inside shelves with 1940's music sheets.   After all was done  I took my sander and went to town.  Redoing this shelf was so much fun and so rewarding.    I think it turned out well.     Someone offered to buy it the first week in store.   I had to put, a Sorry Not For Sale Sign, other wise I would have more sleepless nights dreaming about the perfect shelf to replace it with.

Porch Moments, Vintage Images

I love history.   I am not really into history about wars and so forth.  That's my better half's thing.    I love history, telling about how people lived.    I love old cook books and house keeping books.   I love going to old museums and looking at all of the wonderful relics of the past and thinking of the lives the people led.   I just did a blog makeover.    I had so much fun looking through old images.     I could not use them all so I thought I would share them with you.         Enjoy the images!!!!!

As you can see, this is the image I used.   I thought it was so appropriate    Our Ranch is located in Coryell County Texas.    This photo is titled  "Farmer-Coryell County-Texas "   -  Note:  The porch his feet are propped up on, his laced up shoes, the over all's,  the rocking chair, the cowboy hat and the progressive farmer  magazine he is reading.

Changes & New Projects

As I noted from a previous post I moved from down stairs to upstairs in the store I rent space from.    Vintage Daze, Belton Texas.      It has been a good move.    I have had to get creative with the smaller  space.     I just did another booth make over and I am planning another one  as soon as the all of the elements come together.    I am looking for old crates to use as shelving.     I am hoping to create shelving that I can move and change the actual shelving space as needed.    Sometime this week I am heading to one of our local high end watering holes and hope, they can help me with my wood crate need.    I will keep you posted.

In the mean time,   I made some other changes.     I have covered the walls of my area with burlap cloth to create a less cluttered look.    I think I am going to have to  add another layer.    I can still see the  white underneath.   I also added two very old window frames with rusty chicken wire on the back of them.     These are changes I am pleased with.    Let me know what you think???      Have a wonderful day!!!!!!!!

When I stared this project, I intended it to be Robins egg blue and cream with a dark wax.     This was my first time waxing and I mixed my own.     The coloring I used had a burgundy tone, I did not realize until after I had waxed the box.   I had to do a complete 360 to a Shabby Storage.
I think it turned out well.

I moved

I am really excited about my new move.    I moved every thing I could fit from my spaces downstairs in Vintage Daze to upstairs.     My space is smaller, so I had a lot of large items in my old space that did  not get to make the move with me.    I will save them for market days.    I still have a lot of work to do,  I actually have a lot of room left in the new space on my walls.   There is more traffic flow in the upstairs area.   I noticed to many people not wanting to make the climb down the stairs and up.    Well I did it at least 50 times the 3 days it took me to move.   (It was good for me!!)     I am glad, I did it.    My rent is reduce and, I hopefully this will improve my sales.

This is the new area, It is quaint but in a good location.  I tried to create a flow of cool colors to warm colors.    The only thing I am concerned about it creating focal points and being able to rearrange things, on a regular basis.
